What a monumental day for the HMV Boys Initiative! We were deeply honored to host an official visit from the President of the Association of Beninese Citizens Resident in Nigeria, alongside his diplomatic team.
This visit marked a life-changing turning point for one of our boys, widely known to us as Irende (Olorunwa), whose birth name was officially revealed through embassy proceedings to be Renée.
The Journey So Far:
After a meticulous 40-minute plus video interview conducted by embassy officials back in December 2025, the truth came to light: Renée had been trafficked from Benin Republic to Lagos as a young child. Today, he stands tall as a fully trained, competent, and highly skilled barber. Plans are now officially underway for travel documents to be issued so our founder, Tayo, can personally accompany him back home to reconnect with his biological family!
The atmosphere was charged with unity as the Association President addressed the gathering in French, followed by his team leader speaking passionately in Fon—validating the communal responsibility to uplift and protect our brothers.
THE IMMEDIATE MISSION: HOUSING FOR ISIAQ & RENÉE
While the diplomatic victory was massive, our fundraising target today to secure safe housing fell short. We need your urgent support to rent a “Face-me-I-face-you” apartment to provide immediate stability for Isiaq and Renée.
NEXT STOP: WE ARE RETURNING TO OPEBI!
We are heading back to the neighborhood where our journey started—Opebi! We are launching a unique trade to raise these critical funds:
Buy any of our premium “Simply Royal” product bundles (Pure Honey, Ginger-Garlic Infused Honey, Premium Ofada Rice, or Simply Royal Groundnuts), and get a professional FREE mobile haircut from Renée!
Every bundle you purchase isn’t just a high-quality household staple; it is an investment in freedom, a roof over these boys’ heads, and a bridge back home for Renée.
